UPDATE: Mike and Mimi have been selected by a birth family and are awaiting placement.
We want to start out by telling you that we admire you. You are loved and honored. You are a courageous mother. You have created a new life — what a miracle! We are unable to have children of our own, and we feel so blessed that there are people in this world just like you that consider the selfless choice of adoption. You bring us hope and the chance for such an amazing opportunity to grow our family.
If you decide to travel down this path with us, we can promise that our child will know that he or she is loved by you, and that you made this difficult decision with tremendous courage. You will always be loved by us, our families, and our children. We will continue to pray as a family for you every single day. You will be in our thoughts, and we will be looking out for you the best we can.
We currently have no children but want a large family. All of our children will grow up with siblings they can depend on fora lifetime. Our children will be brought up learning the Catholic faith. We will raise them in a home that values family, friendship, honesty and hard work. They’ll know how to enjoy life and be grateful for the things they have. They’ll learn how to help others, especially those less fortunate than themselves.
We can’t wait to meet you, and we hope you enjoy getting to know a little more about us on the next few pages.
Mike & Mimi
We have been together for 11 wonderful years. We met each other during our junior year of high school and both attended the University of Illinois together.
After 7 years of dating, we were married in 2012 at Mike’s childhood school and parish. We celebrated our wedding at a Southside Chicago venue that reflected both of our Irish backgrounds.
Mimi has a twin sister named Missy and an older brother named Brian. Her younger brother and his wife Cayla have a daughter named Madalynn. Mimi’s family enjoys spending time barbecuing in the backyard with her parents, Lou and Therese, and playing in the pool with Madalynn.
Mike has one brother, Matt. Matt and his wife Lyndsey have two sons named Ben and Nate. His parents Roger and Nora are also shown in these photos from Mike’s annual birthday bash at a Chicagoland racetrack.
Mimi loves that Mike is silly and humorous. She enjoys doing everything with Mike, even trips to the grocery store, because he knows how to make just about anything fun. She enjoys going to concerts with him, especially Summerfest in Milwaukee, which is where Mike proposed to Mimi in 2011. He is a caring and generous person, and Mimi knows that he will make an excellent father from the way he plays with his niece and nephews.
Mike loves that Mimi is loving and tons of fun. She will do anything for someone she loves and is most happy when surrounded by friends and family. In addition to being a great cook, Mimi can also throw a softball through a brick wall. She’s also not afraid to meet new people and try new things, like water skiing! Mike knows that Mimi will be a caring mother who will raise her children in a home filled with love and laughter.
Mac and Colby
We adopted Mac from an animal shelter in June 2015. He is a border terries who loves to go hiking, running, fishing and rollerblading with us. Hs is very friendly with our nieces and nephews and can’t wait to have someone else play fetch with (as soon as we can teach our children how to throw)!
We adopted Colby from an animal shelter in December 2015. He is a schnauzer terrier who enjoys chasing his brother around the house. He loves waking us up before 6:00 a.m. (especially on the weekends) and has helped us prepare for the sleepless nights we may face with a newborn. He is very friendly when meeting new people.
We love to travel, especially to warm, beachy areas. We’ve been to the Dominican Republic twice and more recently we flew to Montego Bay, Jamaica. We went deep sea fishing in Punta Cana, and we went snorkeling with giant sting rays, too! We really enjoy tasting native dishes and meeting new people on our trips. We intend to travel with our children (as soon as they’re old enough) so they can learn about other parts of the world and their cultures.
Hobbies and Interests
We both enjoy cooking together. On the weekends, Mimi cooks her favorite meal, breakfast. After eating, we typically go rollerblading or hiking with the dogs at nearby trails. As you can see below, Mac enjoys working out with us (although we think he prefers fetch over yoga). We like to go camping and fishing when we can, and we enjoy spending time at the beach and sporting events. When the weather is nice, we enjoy lounging in the yard and hanging out with our families and friends.
We love celebrating all holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas! Mimi’s creativity shines with her homemade Halloween costumes and Christmas decorations.
We like to visit the city when we can, especially the Museum of Science and Industry, and plan to explore the city and all it has to offer with our children.
We live on a corner lot in a western suburb of Chicago. Our split-level home has three bedrooms and plenty of character. Mike’s uncles help us with planting flowers and other projects to keep it looking nice. We have a huge fenced-in backyard with LOTS of space to run, play catch and kick a ball around. We love hanging out in the backyard all summer, barbecuing dinner and making s’mores for dessert around a bonfire.
Our neighborhood is a beautiful area with plenty to do year-round. The elementary school is within walking distance form our house, as are a few local parks and the pool. Also close to our home are some great restaurants. In the summers, our neighborhood hosts a farmer’s market an movies and concerts on the lawn at the nearby park.
We are members of a Catholic parish which is also in walking distance from our home. This beautiful church is where we helped schedule our niece Madalynn’s christening. We are godparents for all three of our nieces and nephews, and we intend to help provide them spiritual and moral guidance through their lives. We intend to raise all of our children Catholic as well, and we will attend our church every Sunday with our children to celebrate Mass.
Thank you for spending the time to learn a little more about us. We hope for the chance to get to know you in the same way. If you choose us to begin this journey with you, we can promise a few things about your child. We can guarantee that he or she will have a lot of fun growing up with trips to the park, the beach and the zoo. He or she will learn how to ride a bike, shoot hoops, make friends, hit a fastball, take care of pets and so much more.
Most importantly, your child will learn about you and the selfless choice you made. He or she will learn as much about you as you wish, and we can discuss any level of communication you prefer throughout our journey together. We look forward to getting to learn more about you!
